The book which really made my wild imagination run wilder was "The Cat in the Hat" by Dr Seuss. Each character in the book- the Cat, Thing 1, Thing 2, the Goldfish - was so entertaining! I just loved reading it over and over again!
I feel Dr Seuss's books are like poetry. They are full of humour with funny and crazy creatures born out of his imagination .
Mummy used his books to teach us phonetics and we enjoyed reading them aloud because they were fun to read!
The one word to describe his work- FUN!
For children of my age who are new readers, Dr Seuss's books are an interesting series to read! Rhyme, rhythm and repitition makes it easy and fun to read (comment by my Mummy).
Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on 2nd March 1904. He was an American citizen, although born to German parents. He wrote books for children and was also a cartoonist, poet and filmmaker. He has written more than 60 books under his pen name Doctor Seuss. He died on 24 September 1991,at 87 years of age.

Although I have finished reading most of his books about 2 years back, I still love to re-read them and have a good laugh!
I recommend Dr Seuss when you feel sad and bored!
Happy Reading!
