Enid Blyton : She Tops my List

When I told my Dad that Enid Blyton was my favourite author, he smiled. I did not know, till then, that she had been his favourite author, too, when he was my age!

Can you imagine that? He read some of the same books as a child that I read now and he enjoyed them as much as I do!

Well, so who is Enid Blyton? I am sure, if you have read her books, you would know who she is.

I have loved Enid Blyton's books since I was four or five years old and my mother used to read out The Wishing Chair or The Faraway Tree books to my sister and me before we slept. What wonderful adventures they were. 

Enid Blyton was an English author who was born in London in 1897. She was trained as a Primary School teacher and she soon started writing books for children.

Her first book was Child Whispers. It was a book of poems for children and it has 28 poems. It was published in 1922.

Two years after this, she wrote The Enid Blyton Book of Faries in 1924.

Enid Blyton wrote for a children's magazine called Sunny Stories. Most of her books were printed in parts for the first time in this magazine. The stories were so famous and popular that the magazine's name was later changed to Enid Blyton's Sunny Stories.

She was unwell in the 60s and died in November 1968.

I have read a lot of books by Mrs Blyton - Noddy, Famous Five, Secret Seven, The Wishing Chair, The Faraway Tree, The Five Find Outers, The Naughtiest Girl in School, Malory Towers and many more. But, my favourite is the Amelia Jane series.

This series is about Amelia Jane, the big naughty doll with thick yellow hair. She is a trickster who is always pranking the other toys. Eventually, she realises that being naughty will only get her into trouble. I like it because it is easy to understand and fun to read. Naughty Amelia Jane keeps on entertaining you. I am sure you will like it too!

Enid Blyton will always be my favourite author and Amelia Jane my favourite series. You might want to read more books by her, so look out for my next post.
