Julia Donaldson & the Gruffalo!

For a long time I thought that the Gruffalo was a real animal! Not a buffalo, but a Gruffalo! I remember Mummy and I reading 'The Gruffalo' and I would repeat the words after mummy.

Julia Donaldson is best known for her 'rhyming ' stories for children. Every story is like a poem. There is (as mummy says) 'rhythm and rhyme' in her words, which are simple to read and understand . When I read her books, I feel as though I am listening to a beautiful song!

You just can't read a Julia Donaldson book and forget it. Every book that I read made me want to read more !

My favourite book written by Julia is the Magic Paintbrush.

The stories are interesting and the illustrations are beautiful ! I read somewhere that her books are used in schools in some countries to teach phonetics (the sounds made while speaking).

Julia Donaldson

Julia Donaldson is an English writer, born on 16 Sep 1948. She is famous and has been honoured with many awards. She has written poems, plays and even performed the same. She used to write songs for children's TV programmes but started writing books for children. She is about 70 years old and lives in London.
