A metaphor is a figure of speech that, for rhetorical effect, directly refers to one thing by mentioning another. It may provide (or obscure) clarity or identify hidden similarities between two ideas. It is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable.

🍀It was Jenny Anne's spring break and her examinations had just finished. Her parents told her that they would go to Japan for a fortnight to meet her cousin, Mia . Jenny's eyes were sparkling diamonds thinking about the holidays as she packed up her little suitcase. The next day, they flew to Japan.

At her Aunt and uncle's house, Jenny was admiring Mia's bubbly personality as she was busy sharing some Japanese folktales in Mia's room, sitting on the bed, until Mia was called by her mother. Jenny thought Mia's long hair was a flowing river as she ran to her mother.

While she was gone, Jenny heard a 'zwoooooop'!! It was Ellie the elf, Jenny's best friend and guardian angel "Ellie! How are you ?"asked Jenny. Ellie said "I am alright but I am afraid the kijimuna are in a soup! I have frozen time in this realm already. Come on, let's goooooo!"

They walked hand in hand into the breathtakingly beautiful Sakura forest, where the falling cherry blossoms were snowflakes and the earth a snowy blanket. Ellie was there to meet her friend ,Valerie for further details. Valerie was a kitsune, a nine tailed fox. She was wearing an orange top, a yellow skirt with white socks, two red bands and black boots. Her piercing amber eyes seemed to see through everything. She said "Greetings, Dragonslayer. Ellie must have told you that there's trouble! The kijimuna were attacked yesterday by the Umibozu, the sea monster. It also drowned two fishing boats and four fishermen. This happened when the Kijimuna were going to fish in the fairy sea. We need your help. I heard you are a lion in the battlefield! You will need a ride to the castle I believe...."

Jenny's eyes were saucers as she saw Valerie instantly transforming into a giant fox. She climbed onto Valerie's back and they travelled to the castle at the speed of light. When they reached the castle, they thanked Valerie and went into the throne room. There they met the King and Queen who looked worried.

They discussed the problem until Jenny came up with a simple but brilliant plan. It was decided that they would ask the sirens to lure Umibozu to the Cave of Isolation by singing in their irresistible melodious voices and then the cave can be closed forever trapping Umibozu in the netherworld. Jenny's plan was approved and appreciated by the fairy court.

The next day, Jenny and Ellie met the sirens and told them the plan, requesting for their assistance. The sirens were ready to help and said that they would lure Umibozu back into the cave as planned.

The sun was a gleaming pearl, giving the fairy sea a heavenly golden hue. At sunset the plan was sprung into action. The sirens started singing in their melodious haunting voices and their voice was music to the ears. Hours passed but there was no sign of Umibozu. The King, queen, Jenny, Ellie and Valerie were hiding behind the giant seashells on Shellfie beach, waiting for the sea monster.

Suddenly, a whirlpool appeared disturbing the calm golden waters of the fairy sea and the humongous sea monster Umibozu spiralled out . The sirens continued to sing in their heavenly voices as the sea monster turned towards them. Lured by the magical sounds, the Umibozu walked straight into the Cave of Isolation which led to the netherworld.

Jenny Anne and Ellie watched as King Kaden and Queen Qiona chanted a magical spell which closed the cave forever. Only they had the power to open or close that cave. The kijimuna danced with joy because they could go back to fishing now.

"Our Jenny is a star!", shouted everyone, the resounding noise of celebration rumbled through the ground.

Jenny woke up with a start! It was Mia, gently shaking her awake, asking her to come for tea!

What an amazingly interesting story. Jenny Ann seems to be going places...( literally and figuratively!)
