There is one book character I find a lot like me because she loves reading books- Matilda. She was created by Roald Dahl.

Roald Dahl was born on 13 Sep 1916 in Wales. His parents were Norwegian immigrants. He was an author, poet and screenwriter. He is known for his books for children and his short stories.

He is known as one of the greatest storytellers for children. Even JK Rowling named 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' as one of the must-read books for every child!

Roald Dahl was a fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force and fought during Second World War ,where he got badly injured . He also served as an Intelligence Officer later. He died on 23 November 1990.

Some of his best books-

1. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

2. Charlie and the Glass Elevator.

3. Matilda.

4. James and the Giant Peach.

5. The BFG.

6. The Witches.

7. George's Marvellous Medicine.

8. Fantastic Mr Fox.

9. The Twits.

10. The Magic Finger.

A lot of his books have been made into movies - Matilda, the BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory etc. I enjoyed reading the books and also watching the movies!

My favourite Roald Dahl book ?? Matilda, of course !

Roald Dahl created some interesting words- delumptious, lickswishy, uckyslush, rotsome, scrumdiddlyumptious!!

He used words called Onomatopoeia (I looked for it in the Dictionary) which are words that sounds like the sound they describe- splash, gurgle, belch, mumble, meow etc.

He also used Spoonerisms which (Papa explained) are words created by swapping letters around, like - funny bones becomes bunny phones / jelly beans becomes belly jeans!

Reading Roald Dahl's books has improved my vocabulary ! I find his stories very interesting and real. He creates characters which we see around us. His language is not too easy but it's fun to read . It is great for children of my age, who like interesting and fun stories!

Tumo!another great piece. I'm so proud of you....you are able to read all the difficult words and understand their context too.

Roald Dahl is a great story writer for adults too....Did you enjoy watching the movie 'Matilda'? So which was better the book or the movie?
