The Birth of the Dragon Slayer

An Oxymoron is a figure of speech in which apparently contradictory terms appear in conjunction (e.g. faith unfaithful kept him falsely true).

The day dawned bright and sunny in Fairyland. The clear periwinkle sky was sprinkled with clouds that looked like pink candy floss which clearly confused everybody and a small crowd gathered to witness the same. Queen Sharp Tooth had promised to grant Jenny and Ellie an audience to tell them about Jenny's past and how she became a Dragon slayer. Although it was an open secret that Jenny was a dragon slayer, no one really knew the story behind it. Jenny knew this was their best and only chance to find out, she thought as she watched the clouds growing smaller with every step she took. Jenny Anne and her friend Ellie the elf walked towards the Sakura forest which was just a short walk away. Despite the deafening silence, the friends were enjoying the sight of the breathtakingly beautiful cherry blossom trees, laden with sweet smelling white coloured blossoms and juicy cherries. They stopped and ate a few, laughing and chatting, always happy to be alone together! When they arrived at the Dragon's Lair, Queen Sharp Tooth welcomed them warmly. The Dragon queen offered them some refreshments and comfortable stones to sit on. Queen Sharp Tooth said,"As promised, today I will tell you the story of the birth of Jenny Anne the dragon slayer." She smiled at Jenny and then continued with an animated expression which the two friends found amusing,"I was just a tiny, clumsy critter at the time. One day I decided to fly over the Fairy farm to meet my friends. While flying above the farm I got too excited and exclaimed," Wow! So pretty and colourful!" I opened my mouth and accidentally set Fairy farm on fire. It was the most important place in Fairyland, (after the Palace of course)and all magical plants of the kingdom grew over there. The farmer was really angry at me for burning up his crops which he had worked so hard on and told the Queen to punish me. I was punished by not being able to open my mouth at all! My mum, Queen Blue Scale was awfully strict and angry at me. She roared her loudest roar and breathed her hottest flames as she punished me for my mischief. Yes, things got pretty ugly there! Suddenly,the farmer's daughter ran to touch my mother out of curiosity and fascination. Mum was very calm and amused by the actions of the little girl. Her anger cooled and she blessed the child saying her love would slay the anger of all creatures and will be the next dragon slayer as soon as she wears 'the ring'. That was you in your previous life. That is how you became the dragon slayer as soon as you scaled the Fairy Canyon and found the ring!" Jenny and Ellie sat in silence, their minds fully empty, as Ellie said with a loud whisper, "That's seriously funny! I can't imagine the Queen as 'tiny'!" Queen Sharp Tooth and Jenny burst out laughing at Ellie's words.

The tinkle of laughter carried through Jenny-Anne's thoughts. She opened her eyes to find herself back in her bedroom and her mother trying to wake her up with a smile and a kiss.
