An idiom is an expression or group of words that are used to convey a different meaning from what the words themselves convey.

🍀It was the dog days of summer (the hottest day of summer) when Jenny Anne and her family were on a plane to Tibet. Jenny was extremely happy to be in a place with cooler weather as England was really hot at the time. She was reading a story about a prince fighting an ogre in her book The Folk Tales of Tibet on the plane. Jenny wondered whether she would see Ellie in Tibet . Jenny and her parents landed in Lhasa and stayed in a hotel called Shangri La. They freshened up, ate dinner and unpacked their luggage and got ready for bed. By then, they were ready to hit the sack (go to bed) as they were dead on their feet (very tired). As soon as Jenny kept her head on the pillow, she herd a 'Pssssssssst'. It was her friend, Ellie the elf! "Ellie! How are you? What happened now? Come on, spill the beans (tell me everything), I am all ears (you have my attention, I am listening)", said Jenny jumping out of the bed. Ellie smiled and replied "I'm fine, Jenny. Actually we have to go on a short trek to the mountain pass. My friends Karma and Dolma said that they saw a monster while walking towards the hotel yesterday. We will need warm clothes I believe ........" Said she and snapped her fingers and suddenly she and Jenny were covered in warm coats. They were as snug as a bug in a rug (warm and comfortable). Jenny thanked Ellie and the two of them went to the lobby of the hotel to meet Ellie's friends. Dolma and Karma led the way to the pass towards the monsters lair which was in the boondocks (far away). Ellie summoned a snow lion. Jenny was really excited to see a real snow lion for the first time in her life! "It's so cute!" Jenny squealed with joy. The snow lion grew into a huge magical beast and told them to climb onto his back. Soon Jenny, Ellie, Karma and Dolma were riding the snow lion who ran like a bat out of hell (very fast). As they reached the entrance of the monsters cave, they quietly tiptoed in but saw nothing! Their eyes spotted a thick white rug rolled and kept by the fire place. But as they got closer, they realised that it was a creature! It was a huge, white and fluffy monster! They all screamed in surprise and woke up the giant creature. It was actually a yeti who was crying because he was down in the dumps (very sad). Jenny was the only one brave enough to approach the Yeti and ask, "Mr Yeti, what happened? Why are you crying? Are you sad?" The yeti replied "Yes.....I am lonely. I have no friends or family ! Every time I try to make friends with someone, they jump out of their skin (are terrified) and run away because they think I am a monster! Do you find me scary too? Don't you think that I am a cute monster?" Jenny patted the Yeti's soft white fur and smiled. She said "You are indeed one of the cutest monsters that I have ever seen. If you want, I will be your friend." "And so would we, Mr Yeti! Said Ellie, Karma and Dolma as they came forward to pet the cute monster. Mr. Yeti replied happily "Thank you so much. You all have hearts of gold (are very kind and caring). Jenny, you're the bravest little girl I have ever met!"
"I will see you in my dreams (goodbye), Mr Yeti," said Jenny as she closed her eyes and lost herself in the soft warmth of his fur, hugging him! She opened her eyes to find herself snug in bed, excited to have had another adventure.
Fantastic story... love Jenny Ann's adventures and can't wait to hear where they take her next.
